Seasons of Plastic Surgery

Senior couple with bicycle in autumn parkThere are 4 seasons in a year, sports seasons, planting seasons, but are there plastic surgery seasons? In January, gyms see influxes of people with New Year’s resolutions.   Let’s talk about some of the most popular procedures and the times most people seek to have cosmetic surgeries done.

Winter/Christmas Break – New Year is a time when a lot of mommy makeovers and facial surgeries occur.  Why?  Kids are on break from school, extended family is around to assist and entertain kids and it’s typically much cooler weather.  All of these reasons provides a perfect time for recovery following invasive plastic surgery procedures.

Spring time is also quite busy as women start to think about the upcoming bathing suit season.  It’s also around the time of Spring break that women try on bathing suits and may not like what they see in the mirror.  Many tummy tucks, liposuction and breast augmentations are scheduled for early spring to allow for plenty of time to recover and end up looking svelte for summer.

Typically late summer months are a slow season for plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures.  While cosmetic procedures like Botox are easier to do and really don’t have seasonality, not all types of procedures are suited for the summer. Chemical peels require strict avoidance of sun, which is pretty hard to do in the summer months.  You may want to consider having your peel once the kids have returned to school and through the winter months.

Now that summer is quickly wrapping up with Labor Day only 3 weeks away, Fall is a great season to have many cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures completed.  Kids are going back to school, leaving the house quiet and giving you time to rest.  The days will start to be cooler, allowing compression garments not to be so hot or uncomfortable.  And, you will be recovered and looking fantastic for when the holidays roll around.

When having an invasive procedure, you need to make sure that you have plenty of time to rest and recuperate.  Because of that, it’s obvious that plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures have seasons.  Winter, Spring and Fall are busier than the Summer months.   If you’re considering a surgical or non-surgical cosmetic procedure, contact Dr. Magassy for a consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals.  The fall is a perfect time to have a plastic surgery procedure done by top-rated Dr. Magassy located in McLean, VA.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.
