GLYCOLIC – a natural alpha hydroxy acid found in foods like sugar cane acts on epidermis by exfoliating superficial layers of stratum corneum and increases dermis thickness.  Improves skin brightness, dyschromia (brown spots) and skin texture. Basically, if you’re fighting against signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, or signs of acne, glycolic products with glycolic acid can help slow down and minimize their appearance.

MANDELIC – This is a great starter peel and safer for darker skin types.  It’s action is similar to Glycolic, but with less irritation.  It is derived from bitter almonds and should be avoided if patient has a nut allergy.

SALICYLIC – This peel exfoliates the superficial layers and has great anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect, and works by penetrating deep into the pores of skin in an attempt to attack the cause of visible acne at its root. Basically, this chemical works to dry up oil glands, because often clogged oil glands are the cause of rupturing pimples.  Salicylic can’t be used on patient’s with aspirin allergies.

LACTIC – Attracts and holds water in skin and improves fine lines.  It helps with lightening of dark spots.  It is an excellent option for drier and/or sensitive skin.  However, it can’t be used if patient has a milk allergy.

JESSNER’S SOLUTION – This solution has a blend of slicylic acid, resorcinol and lactic acid.  Jessner peel is the most versatile peel because it can be used for all skin types, lighter and darker skin, with the objective to remove superficial skin layers.  Helps to correct uneven tones, reduction of shallow fine lines and unclog pores.  It can not be used if patients has milk and/or aspirin allergies.
